Q: HOW DO I REGISTER?
A: You may download the registration form from this site or use the detachable card from aCamp Briarwood brochure. Complete the form, attach a check for the deposit and send it to Camp Briarwood. You may use the drop box at our office, room G-100 at BriarwoodChurch, or mail to: Camp Briarwood, 2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham, AL 35243.
Q: CAN I CALL OR FAX THE CAMP OFFICE TO RESERVE A SPOT UNTIL I HAVE A CHANCE TO SEND IN THE FORM?
A: The only way to secure a spot for your camper is for the camp office to receive both your registration form and deposit check.
Q: IS ANY PRIORITY GIVEN TO CAMPERS IF THEY HAVE BEEN BEFORE?
A: Spots are given on a first-come/first-served basis. No priority is given on any basis. Everyone has equal opportunity to attend camp.
Q: WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION?
A: Registration will remain open until a session fills up. Many sessions fill up quickly. The most sought-after weeks typically fill up in March. If a session is not filled, you may register any time until the first day of that session.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF A SESSION CLOSES BEFORE YOU GET MY REGISTRATION?
A: The camp office will contact you to see if you want to be put on a waiting list for that session or if you would like to change to a session that is still open. Session closings will be posted on this website. We try to keep the list on the website as up-to-date as possible. However, a session can close, and it may take one to two days for the website to be updated.
Q: IF THE SESSION I WANT IS FULL, CAN I BE PUT ON THE WAITING LIST FOR MORE THAN ONE OTHER SESSION?
A: We can put you on one waiting list at a time.
Q: WHAT IF I AM REGISTERING AND IT IS AFTER JUNE 5?
A: Turn in your registration form with the full amount of the camp fee.
Q: WHAT IF I REGISTER AND LATER I FIND OUT MY CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND CAMP?
A: If your plans for the summer change and your child can't attend camp, please call the camp office. If it is before May 14, we will be able to refund your deposit. If you have already paid your balance due and then must cancel, we will refund the balance amount up until one week before your camp session or afterward if your spot can be filled by another camper.
Q: WHY CAN’T I RECEIVE MY DEPOSIT BACK AFTER MAY 14?
A: Like other camps and programs your child participates in, the deposit pays for administrative and other expenses incurred for your child from the time of registration.
Q: CAN MY DEPOSIT BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER CAMPER IF I CANCEL?
A: Deposits are not transferable to other campers.
Q: WHAT IF MY CHILD IS INJURED BEFORE CAMP AND CAN’T ATTEND?
A: Please contact the camp office as soon as possible. We will ask you to have your doctor send us a letter on his stationery about the injury. If the injury is one that prevents a child from participating in regular camp activities, we will refund the balance amount paid.
PAYING YOUR BALANCE
Q: WHEN IS THE BALANCE AMOUNT DUE?
A: It is due in the camp office by June 5. The Parents' Meetings in June are a convenient time to pay your balance. You may drop off your payment anytime using the drop-box at the camp office.
Q: WHAT IF I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY THE BALANCE BY JUNE 5?
A: Please call the Quest Recreation office, 776-5237, to discuss arranging a payment plan.
Q: IN THE PAST, I HAVE SEEN PARENTS PAYING THE BALANCE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP. CAN I PAY MY BALANCE THEN?
A: No, the balance is due in the camp office no later than June 5 unless a payment plan has been established. Please do not assume that you may wait until the first day of camp to pay the balance.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF I SLIP UP AND FORGET TO PAY MY BALANCE BY JUNE 5?
A: If we don’t receive your balance payment by June 5, we will attempt to reach you to make sure it wasn’t an oversight. If we are unable to reach you, we will assume that you do not want to keep your spot, and we may begin to register those on the waiting list.
Q: WHO DO I MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO?
A: Please make all checks payable to Camp Briarwood.
Q: IF I ORDER A T-SHIRT OR A CAMP PICTURE, DO I NEED TO INCLUDE THAT MONEY WITH THE DEPOSIT CHECK?
A: No need to include it with the deposit. It is due with the balance. You will receive a confirmation email or letter after your child registers, and it will state the balance due.
Q: IF I REGISTER MORE THAN ONE CHILD, CAN I WRITE ONE CHECK FOR ALL THE DEPOSITS?
A: Certainly. It would help us if you would include all the children's names in the memo line of the check. Likewise, you may write one balance check if that is convenient for you.
Q: I WOULD LIKE TO SEND MY CHILD TO CAMP, BUT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO AFFORD IT. IS THERE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?
A: There may be some. Each year we receive some donations that are put into a scholarship fund for camp. Therefore the total amount available for us to award varies from year to year. The amounts awarded depend on how much is in the scholarship fund, how many requests are received and the needs of the families. Typically, scholarships are for no more than half the registration fee for camp.
Q: HOW DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?
A: Please contact the camp office for a financial assistance form. Be sure to return it by April 29. All requests will be considered by the scholarship committee and scholarships awarded based on need.
